The 1961-1962 season was Alfred Hubay’s first season as House Manager for the Metropolitan Opera. Among the highlights of that season are the delaying of the opening due to a labor dispute, the opening night borrowed production of La fanciulla del West with Leontyne Price, Richard Tucker and Anselmo Colzani, a new production of Un ballo in maschera with Carlo Bergonzi, Leonie Rysanek, Robert Merrill, with conductor Nello Santi in his Met debut and the debut of Joan Sutherland.
