The 1962-1963 Metropolitan Opera season found Alfred Hubay adding to his responsibilities, not only the role of House Manager,, but it marked the beginning of 38 years of appearances on the Texaco Opera Quiz. Other highlights of the season include the beginning of the move to Lincoln Center, the opening of the acoustically flawed Philharmonic Hall with the Met’s participation in presenting de Falla’s Atlantida and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music, the opening night Andréa Chenier with Franco Corelli, a new production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and the effects of a newspaper strike (Part 1 of 3).
